Red is a 5 year old that was found in Farmington as a stray. Red is chipped with 3 different states contact numbers and no one returns the calls so after over 10 days, Red is now looking for another home! He loves to play and be with people. I think he thinks he is a big dog at 15 lbs and not a Jacke Russell because he can be dominant with other dogs. However, he is super wonderful with people!!!He is very housetrained too. He can be an escape artist so best with a 6 foot privacy fence or for a family that always uses a leash or tie out! Ruger is a 2 year old where his original mom and dad lost their home. He is cool looking with his ticked markings but his body like a basset hound. Even though heelers like to nip heels, he doesn't do that since the bassett hound personality is what he is mostly like. He has doesn't have accidents ( maybe once when you get him home) Here sleeps on the couch at night or on your bed if you let him! He loves any size kids and would be fine with a 2 yr old! He also has been known to give kisses! We would love him to go to a family with kids. He would love to go to the ball park too and meet all the kids's friends too! Ruger approach a new dog eagerly and some dogs. don't like that in your face kind of dog. Ruger is super super smart and will listen to a no or a come from a 8 year old! He will stop mid track! He will bark in a kennel ( in the house) for about 20 minutes when you leave. He will stay in a fenced in yard if you are with him. If you go to the other side of the fence , he will go with you too! He has known to jump the fence to sit on your front step asking to come in! He does like to talk to you a lot and keep you posted on all that is happening. He would not work in an apartment because he voice is loud and would scare your neighbors! Ruger needs kids but he does NOT need an active family! He would love to be with each one of them! He is sooooo good with people, he is a keeper! He will chase cats. Adoption fee: $200. Call Angela at 651-451-7603 form Last Hope to learn more. Jericho is a beautiful boy from Tennessee who absolutely adores women! He's roughly 27 lbs of pure muscle, and looks to be a mix of Corgi and Bulldog. He's very handsome and somewhere between 3 to 5 years of age, with the absolutely cutest stub of a tail! He enjoys walks, and can do about a mile at a time, round trip, depending on the temperature. He's very good on a leash. He is very friendly and great with other dogs. He is neutered, up to date with shots, has had a fecal, and is micro-chipped. His adoption fee is $325.

If you are looking for a young and calm Labrador Retriever dog, Summer could be the special girl you are looking for! At only 2 years old & 82 pounds, Summer possesses a calm personality when she is by herself. She is very polite and doesn't jump on people, which is another wonderful trait in a larger breed dog like this! Summer has also learned to play ball and bring it back off leash. Summer has also learned how wonderful it feels to be close to and petted by people. Summer is a typical dominant female so she would be best as an only dog or else paired with a large and submissive male dog. Summer should not be placed in a home with cats, or small dogs. We would like Summer to be adopted by a family with a fenced yard so that she can run and exercise safely and not become a stray or hit by a car. We would also like to see Summer be adopted by a family that will give her access to water because Summer, loves, loves, loves to play in the water! Summer is housebroken. Summer doesn't like being put in a crate but can handle it for short amounts of time. She is best with in an adult home since she was hit in her past life and doesn't like people she doesn't know grabbing her! Volunteer to call: Angela 651-451-7603 Adoption fee: $150 You can also watch Summer's Video on YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZRsHhCCqcM8

Reese is about 1 1/2 years old and weighs about 25 lbs. Sweet guy and we will never know what he is mixed with! He is great with other dogs and wonderful with kids. Reese came to us very afraid of people. Now he comes up to you if you are sitting on a chair or floor. He wags his tail and wants to be your friend. He is great with other dogs and quiet in his kennel. We are working on housebreaking with doggie diapers and he wears them in the house only. He needs a fenced in yard since can run away if scared. He is blooming every day. I am a very handsome 17 month old, 65 lb English (Redtick) Coonhound, who loves to go for a jog at the lake, go on hikes, wrestle with other dogs, and learn new tricks! I am extremely food-motivated and intelligent, so I learn very quickly. I know lots of obedience commands, Im neutered, up to date on all shots, and I even ring a bell at the back door when I have to go potty!
I am looking for a new owner who is experienced with dogs since Ill need a strong pack leader to show me the ropes. I would love a large yard to play in, but any yard will do, as long as it is fenced in! I am very energetic and would love to find an active family who will share my enthusiasm for the outdoors. I would not do well in a home with cats, but I love most other dogs. And I am probably too energetic for a home with small children, but I do great with kids 8 years and up!

He is only 60 lbs and acts like a 2 year old when he plays, however, he is a sweet cuddle bug too. He is a later dog and a ball dog!! He will play and play in and out of the water and enjoys that soooo much. We hope that the someone who adopts him has a cabin on a lake so he can play in it a lot. He will go catch the ball and deep in the water to make sure he brings it back to you! Buster Brown also is housebroken, not a chewer and is very good with Chihuahuas to Great Danes! Good with kids, cats and other dogs... a great catch! Adoption fee: $200 Call Gema 952-941-2269 Angela Dog Coordinator www.last-hope.org 651-451-7603 adopt a dog; it used to be a puppy!

Kody desperately wants to be with his people and is one of the gentlest, eager-to-please dogs that I have ever met. He is low energy and very laid back. He listens well, walks on a leash like a dream, and is very well behaved. He doesn't have a aggressive bone in his body. Kody is quiet and rarely barks EXCEPT when he is left alone. You see, Kody has SEVERE separation anxiety. Kody is an AKC 4 year old chocolate lab that had a sad past, and has ongoing special medical and emotional needs. He hurts himself in a crate, and might have explosive diaharrea. The transition to a new home will also be extremely difficult for him, and you might see other anxious behaviors like chewing and potty mistakes. I have had Kody about three months, and he currently has no behavior issues now when we are home with him - he has free run of the house. We rarely leave him alone. We need to find him a home where he is with someone all of the time....someone retired, who works at home, or can take him to work. We also need someone who, in addition to being able to financially afford his food, vet bills, and ear medicine, knows how to work with him on these anxiety issues. Kody has food allegies and will forever need to be on Science Diet Z/D, an allegen-free dog food that is specially formulated, which no other dog food matches. Kody develops horrible out of control ear infections from other foods, and can never be fed anything else - no treats, no human food, no scraps off the floor or from the kids ... nothing. Kody's ear infections were so bad with his first owner that he developed a hand sized blood blister on his ear flap - the whole size of his ear. This was from shaking his head. The blood blister was the largest our vet had ever seen. This was due entirely from the food. This will return and is difficult and expensive to surgically treat - so prevention with the Z/D is the ONLY option. Science Diet Z/D is $80.00 per bag - and at 80 lbs, Kody should eat about one bag a month. Because Kody's allergy and ear issues are chronic, he will also need ear medications and frequent veterinary visits. Kody fetches well. He is playful with other dogs and is ok with cats. He loves everyone and is good with kids, and people of every age. He was treated harshly at times by his previous owners and cowers if yelled at or at a raised hand, so we need someone who is 100% committed to positive training. He really enjoys the company of other dogs, and we would like to see him have another playful dog in the home. Kody loves to run and bound around my backyard with my other dogs, so we would also like to see him in a yard with a fence. Kody would make an excellent therapy dog, or even service dog for the person who is willing to train him. Kody has so much to give! As the foster, have become very protective of Kody, so it will be like placing one of my own dogs. Kody will not be going to adoption events, as it makes him too anxious. I will need to do a home and follow-up checks, and will need to keep in contact with you and your vet to make sure this poor dog gets the home he deserves. We are asking a lot, but if you are the family we are looking for, he could be the best dog you will have in a lifetime!!! Do you have a ball for him?? Contact Renee at 651-442-8860 to learn more and to meet Kody! Kira is an adult German Shepherd Dog/Belgian Malinois cross (best guess anyways). She is everything you would expect from a combination of those breeds...active, intelligent, driven, fearless, and loyal. She was rescued from a neglect situation which has left her wary of strangers. Not so much shy but watchful, alert, and slow to hand over her trust. Earning her trust takes effort, patience, and time but once you have it you have the most loyal dog you'll have ever met. She is what we call a 'one person dog' meaning that she bonds hard to one person and everyone else is far less important in her eyes. She will do anything for the one she loves. You see, Kira lived without love for so long now that she has it she doesn't want to lose it. She doesn't like to swim at all but when her foster mom ran and jumped off the dock into a lake, Kira followed suit to make sure she was safe. She'll sit for hours by her foster mom's side when she is hurt or sick, which is no small challenge for a dog as active as her. Typical working breed, Kira needs a 'job' to do. She needs a mental and physical outlet for her energy and intelligence. She is great at agility and already knows the jumps, tunnels, and is learning the weaves. She also loves to play fetch with anything that squeaks (squeaky tennis balls are her favorites). She would excel at obedience as well. She knows many commands/tricks already and always wants to learn more. Kira is so smart she often learns what to do just by watching her foster mom to see what she wants. She knows sit, down, heel, come, shake (both paws), leave it, drop it, touch (she touches her nose to whatever you tell her to), find your____, get it, back up, and for rollerblading knows left, right, slow up, and halt. She is housetrained and cratetrained, though she hates being confined so needs either a very sturdy, reinforced crate or someone home more often than not. Kira does okay with other larger dogs and likes to play with the ones that share her rough and rowdy play style, though not a dog to bring to a dog park. She does have the high prey drive known to her breeds so cannot go to a home with small animals, cats, rodents, or small dogs (under ~30 lbs). Kira would do best in a home with someone who understands and has experience with her breed/s. She is not the dog for everyone but in the right home, she is amazing. Buddy is a 6 month old male being fostered by Midwest Shiba Inu Rescue. Buddy came to MSIR from a shelter and is just as sweet as can be! Buddy appears to be part shiba, part "your guess is as good as mine", but we are thinking that it's likely a laborador/retriever mix. Buddy will likely be a medium-large dog as a result of the mix of the two! Buddy is almost fully house trained and gets along well with other dogs and people! The adoption fee for Buddy is $300 and all adopters MUST have completed an MSIR home visit.
For more information on Buddy, please contact Tonie at amplmortenson@gmail.com.
